In Conference: Emotional and Mental Abuse in Survivors of Domestic Violence

Date: 24 October 2019
Attended by Purani Mogan

Our Program Officer attended a meeting with the Ministry of Women (KPWKM) to examine and brainstorm ideas on dealing with the mental health aspects of Domestic Violence, particularly on emotional and mental abuse.

During the session, a testimony by a survivor mentioned “DVA (the Domestic Violence Act) just an accessory looks good in papers”.

This is heartbreaking. We must do better in terms of meeting survivor’s need for access to financial assistance, shelter, security, mental health services, and most importantly – to freedom from violence, harassment and intimidation.
