Telenita Helpline (counselling + legal info) : 03 7877 0224

AWAM’s Telenita Helpline provides counselling and legal information to women in crisis and anyone who faces gender-based violence (including domestic violence, rape and sexual assault, and sexual harassment). Call us at 03 7877 0224 to receive counselling and/or legal aid over the phone or to make a face-to-face appointment at the AWAM Centre (85, Jalan 21/1, Sea Park, 46300 Petaling Jaya, Selangor, Malaysia).

Our Helpline and Service Centre are available Mondays to Fridays, 10 am to 4.30 pm. We also provide counselling services on Saturdays, by appointment.

Our services are free and confidential. They are available to all persons, regardless of age, ethnicity, religion, gender identity, sexual orientation, geographical location, income, ability, or status. We are able to provide services in English and Malay and, by appointment, in Mandarin and Tamil.

Our counselling is handled by trained volunteers and counselling interns while legal information is provided by legal interns in association with the Kuala Lumpur and Selangor Legal Aid Centre. All of them are trained to offer support that is non-judgemental and empathetic.

While AWAM does not provide shelter services, we can refer you to some. We recommend getting in touch with Women’s Aid Organisation by calling their helpline at 03 7956 3488. We also have a list of women’s shelters on the Services section of our website.

You can also call the national helpline, Talian Nur, at 15999. Talian Nur operates a 24/7 counselling service for persons experiencing violence (including spousal and child abuse).

You can also send us an email (for non-urgent enquiries) using the feedback form at our contact page.
